Subject: Sustainable Construction – Tall timber buildings

Gareth has worked in the pre-fabricated timber construction industry for fifteen years and brings a broad perspective drawn from his experience working across the various stages of the construction process. Since 2009 he has specialised in Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), working for four and a half years with KLH UK where he started as a design engineer and project manager, eventually becoming site co-ordinator working across all live sites.  

In 2015 Gareth joined Stora Enso as Business Development Manager responsible for increasing specification of CLT in the UK and Ireland. Stora Enso is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of CLT with a current production capacity of 240,000 m3 of CLT from its two bespoke mills and adjacent sawmills in Austria, and new CLT  mill in Sweden. 

Gareth has been involved in several key CLT projects and is currently involved in the development of the market for Modular CLT and Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) in the UK.
